  • You've probably picked up some sort of residue from the car wash - there's a few options:

    1) wait for it to wear off
    2) Clean the window with window cleaner and give the wiper blades a wipe over too
    3) For a really good clean use some glass cutter paster on the windscreen and get some new wiper blades

Wipe your wiper blades thoroughly with a rag soaked in vinegar, and then wipe the area of the windscreen where the wipers "rest" with a clean bit of the same rag. You may just have some smeary ick on the windscreen that the washer fluid cant get rid of.

If you go for top end wash and wax you get the wax on the screen. As said, use vinegar to clean blades and screen.

Meths or Surgical spirit on glass and wiper blades applied by a soaked cloth.

A dash of meths in the washer bottle will also aid long term cleaning.

Warm water with vinegar and use newspaper instead of a cloth, polish off with dry newspaper and you should have no more problems.

Best money saver to clean windscreen, is pure water and newspaper as a cloth. Doesn't have to be warm water (but it wouldn't hurt). Wet newspaper and wipe screen.

Best expensive way to clean windows -that I have found-

    Found at glass suppliers

I would say the difference between the two methods is only perception & convenience, the result is exactly the same. You think the soapy suds are doing more than the newspaper but in reality they are not. The spray can be sprayed on and wiped off easily, the wet newspaper may be dripping water everywhere and will need to be renewed for a new piece for each window.

What I would do if I were you, clean with vinegar or a glass cleaner, until 100% smear free, then test my washer wiper and see if it clogs it up again, if so, you need to empty your reservoir and fill with a bit of clean water & vinegar and squirt through to clean the pipes. Then fill with new stuff
