if your gp agreed and signed you off(although its a fitness note now not a sick note)
although if it were me i`d be more concerned about getting the BP under control, have you seen a specialist?0 -
Thanks for the reply yes i have seen a couple but none have found the cause my father had a heart attack at 24 and an aortic valve put in but they have not found any clues for me they have also checked my kidneys which seem fine.if your gp agreed and signed you off(although its a fitness note now not a sick note)

Do you receive sick pay from your employer?
If your statutory sick pay runs out and you are too unwell to work you can claim ESA.
If you lose your job and your doctor says you are too unwell to work you will be able to claim ESA.
You cannot claim ESA while receiving SSP/occupational sick pay.0 -

Your GP should be very concerned and be doing more to get your blood pressure down if you are taking 4 different medications and still have BP readings that high. Do you not get regular checks? Im on 2 weekly checks for mine even though i am now under control, so think you should be getting something similar. Also its obvious your medication doesnt work and needs changing/reviewing and you need to tackle the weight issue as you have stated.
I am 32 and have high BP due to pregnancy that has not gone away after having my son 6 months ago. I was put on 5mg of Ramipril and mine was around 200/110 at its worst.
How much is the maximum fully paid sick leave can you take from work? and have you used all of this?
Surely if you can get medical information about yourself from your GP etc and give these to your employer they may be able to work with you to sort out shorter working hours/weeks and give you lighter duties(depending what your job is) to lessen the stress on you and allow you to carry on earning a full wage while you sort out your health issues?0 -
its hard to give light duties i work mostly nights working with young people who display violent and aggressive behaviour. My work have tried to help as they dropped my hours from 50 to 30 per week i just dont know what to do yes my work pays statutory sick pay but that will be no where near enough to cover the bills0

Claiming ESA is not about what particular illness you have but whether you have limited capability to work as per the Work Capability Assessment. You must score at least 15 points in this test. You can claim ESA once your SSP stops. If necessary (i.e. have partner with no income) your SSP may be topped up with IS depending on the amount. Also your employment contract should state what contractual sick pay you are entitled to. You have one month to appeal an ESA decision.Don't thank me, thank my post :T

Agreed. I would be very concerned about your health as that comes first. Then claiming.
You can't claim many benefits if you are in hospital/ill or on sick pay as these either admit that you are not fit to work or have already got a job and can return after the episode. I hope this situation improves for you.
I would sort out a personal plan of what steps you are going to take to get through this and to improve the situation, with improving your health and claiming ESA as priorities.
Once your health has become more stable you can then get help to return to work. The harder one works the luckier one gets!0
