Our slates damaged next door's car.....

Storm damage. Our insurer is happy to pay for our damage, but has stated that the neighbours should claim on their own car insurance for the damage to their car. Not told them yet. Guess they won't be happy. I'll probably offer to pay their excess. Is this common practice?

There is no such thing as an act of god in insurance.

It may be the wrong words but there is certainly a concept of a natural occurence for which no person or organisation is liable.
