BMI Baby Automatically charging card for extra Tax

Just had an email to say that BMI baby is going to automatically charge my card for flights we have booked for the increase in Tax.

As there are 6 of us, and we have booked 4 return flights this year, it is going to be £240, if I have calculated it correctly.

Does anyone know if they are allowed to debit the card without authorisation? I am unsure what cards we paid with, and if it is our current account, it will not cope with that so close to the end of the month.

It annoys me, that you can book online, but cannot email the airline with a question, you have to ring, which takes ages from experience!

Thanks, so does that mean it is £5 extra per person on each flight leaving the UK?

£120 if they are euorpean flights.
A thankyou is payment enough .
  • I've had the same email today too. It's an extra 5 pounds per person on each flight leaving the uk, so for an international flight you don't pay the extra tax on the return journey. Not sure about them just taking the money from the card though.

they'll have problems getting the money from mine - the card was cancelled after it was cloned; but even if it wasn't cancelled it expired 3 months ago!

"Please note in order to travel this additional tax must be paid or it will result in you not being allowed to board your flight."

CC companies don't have any problem in charging your current CC on debts incurred by your previous card
