When you get your award notice out for the new claim it will have a start from date on the front. If it is not the date you are asking for ring them up and ask them to sort it out. That's providing you're not asking them to backdate it more than 93 days or prior to the cessation date of your old single claim.

  • hiya, no i just want it backdated to the 2nd of nov which is when he moved in and my single claim stopped, because ill be waiting weeks for them to sort it out thats all i need back dating not anything else..Do u see what i mean?

    thanks
  • Where you have claimed before the system will usually be able to backdate your claim to the day after your old claim without you requesting this, but it is correct that you should send a covering letter to be sure. As a last resort, if it hasn't correctly backdated, an advisor at the helpline can request this for you.
