Yes, they are linked to Bairstow Eves, King & Chasemore, Mann Countrywide (to name a few....). As are Countrywide Surveyors too.... One large happy family!!

They're also linked to Bridgfords in the North West. Bridgfords put us under massive pressure to use their Countrywide mortgage service, including insisting we make an appointment to bring in our AIP, which was actually just an excuse to get us in to see their mortgage advisor. Unfortunately our vendor is using Countrywide for his conveyancing.
  • Thanks for everyones input - what we suspected. In all honesty we can't blame our vendor, he has been guided by our Estate Agents (Miller Countrywide). Now they were very impressive finding a buyer for our house so quickly but to be frank their aftersale input has been cr~p - and I have told them so. We took a £6,500k drop in our asking price because our buyer had nothing to sell (true) and his mortgage was in place - they had organised his mortgage so they told me (false) and he wanted to exchange quickly which suited all parties (true). Our buyer has no idea whats going on, he is blisfully unaware that our sols have sent 3 - yes 3 - draft contracts in the past fortnight as well as trying to contact them by telephone but to no avail. He signed his mortgage application last monday (whatever happened to "his mortgage is in place?!") and we HOPE that the survey will be carried out next week. Our mortgage has been agreed, survey done and we will be doing our Searches next week so theoretically we will be ready to exchange in a weeks time. This has taken us 3 weeks in total.

I called our EA yesterday to tell them that we had heard nothing from their recommeded cpnveyancers to be told "has your Sol chased them". Well YES, actually they had, but as far as I am concerned I am not paying our Sol to chase them, that is what the EA are paid (very handsomely) to do, especially as the delay is of their making. I intend to inform our EA that if we do not have positive movement (ie survey done and response to our contract from Countrywide)within the next 10 days we will put the house back on the market with a different EA (signed a Joint Agrement so they can't stop us). I am really, really ticked off at the moment.

    UPDATE:

EA called out of the blue today our buyer is organising his own mortgage and therefore will NOT be using Countrywide Property Services! Lets just hope he can pull his finger out now and get things moving, else we are remarketing property by next weekend.

BTW our EA admitted to us that Countrywide Prperty Services were cr#p but "they are not really supposed to say that!". Fingers crossed everyone.......
  • They are slow and appalling. I always recommend goldsmith williams in liverpool to my clients, and conveyancingexperts.co.uk, they are both extremely good
