Broken bag from New Look

I've just walked home from college and on the way my new bag snapped :( The handle on one side has completely come away. I only bought it on Sunday! It was bought in my home town's New Look store.

Unfortunately the receipt is long gone, what can I do? I want to go to the shop and get a refund ideally as whilst it's a nice bag it's the third thing I've bought from them since the start of September that's needed to be returned or exchanged (a pair of gloves with a massive hole in them that I didn't notice as they were pinned together and a pair of boots with the inside lining coming away, leaving me walking on the metal pins )

The gloves are with my mum and she's sorted them out, not sure how as they were bought at the same time as the bag so I don't know what she's done about a receipt. I have yet to return the boots as again I don't have the receipt and the problem only presented after about 5 wears so the bottom is all scuffed.

Must say I'm very annoyed at this, definitely won't be shopping there again! Used to buy pretty much everything from there but that's it now, no more for me.

  • How did you pay for them? Debit or credit card? If so then do a print off from your online banking showing the transaction.

It is advisable to keep receipts for sizable purchases for at least a year, in some cases longer.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Yes, I know, but the bag and the receipt (which I normally get put in my purse, but I was in a rush) got shoved in the bin without thinking and it happened to be the night before bin collection day...

How do I go about showing I purchased this with a bank statement then?

Show them the relevant bank statement, pointing to the New Look debit for the bag?

Does it matter that it won't say that it was for the bag and that I bought something else (the gloves, which have now been returned down in London) at the same time?

Sorry, I don't want to get there and be all embarrassed and flustered 'cos if I do I'll just leave with the bag and get nowhere!

New Look are normally quite a good store and even if you havnt got a reciept they will let you exhange the bag. I know this would be at the managers discretion though so dont take my word for it but they are generally a good store for things like that! - hope you get sorted!
