I think 7:00 is early.... oh were the days when I was up every two hours feeding DS.....

:rotfl:I've always been an early bird (but 4:50 is pushing it even for me - 5:30 is much more reasonable!) - I think it comes from having horses many years ago and having to commute a long way to work which meant I had to be up really early ....

Now - a question for you all if you don't mind:D

Any recommendations for mobile phone insurance providers?

Mine comes with 1 month free but it's £6 after that:eek: and would like to get something a bit cheaper!

I did have it as a "perk" on my bank account before I downgraded ;) as I didn't use it then (or any the other things the higher cost one provided) ..... still, that was costing £10 more than I'm paying now!:)

I don't have separate mobile phone insurance, I do have personal possessions cover on my home insurance and accidental damage cover. Wouldn't cover calls if it was lost or stolen and they managed to guess or over-ride the pin code but I think the cover is enough for me. I'm surprised there isn't a guide on here about it already though, or at least I couldn't spot one.

Well it is the end of the month, I need to tot up my food spends but I'm definitely over again :( I'm hoping only by £20 but am cross that I've gone over again!

At the start of the month I said I'd only allow myself a takeaway at the end of the month if I was on budget, rather than having it at the start before budget was an issue. So, no take away for me in Feb!

    Happy weekend everyone.

I get up at 5am every day anyway... by choice! Never had to get up more then twice a night with either of mine though.

I also never buy mobile insurance... if i had a desirable fruity phone... then maybe, but like SOT I rely on home insurance.

SOT sorry about your budget. But if you did better then normal, then i would do a home take-away (ie. Ready meal type) othetwise you are more likely to fall completely off the mse bandwagon... or at least i would :)

Today we went charty shop hunting in a new area with 5 shops... I spent £6.45 and got Eliza 4 dresses, 3 trousers, 3 tops and a pair of pj's :) all ranging from 3 - 18 months... tomorrow we are trying 3 new areas....

I'm having so much fun :D

I'm up at 5.45 each day, out walking the dog by 6.15, usually with wet hair, though we are usually a little later at weekends. The earlier start means I can travel in to work for 8, missing the worst of the traffic.

I am going to give takeaway a miss for February, as I have eaten some fairly nice things this month whilst going over budget. I'm off on a short holiday this month and will be eating out at least once then so will count that as my treat.

Great CS deals! Sounds like the new area was a good decision.

I really don't need any more clothes after the new work tops last month and I am trying to work through some of the clothes I never seem to get round to wearing, as otherwise is just a waste to have them hanging there, but I have been so lazy with clothes for so long that it is surprisingly tough going to consciously decide instead of pulling on some old faithfuls.

Depending on which CS you go to depends on how good a deal you get... some are so fancy and everything is marked up (and not cheap!)... others are not and they throw baby clothes in a box marked 50p... a good rummage will normally find you at least 1 nice item :)

There were two shops from the same charity about 25 meters away from each other... one was a goldmine, the other was terribly expensive!

My own wardrobe is very limited... I don't have much that fits after loosing so much weight... I am loathed to buy more and loose more weight... and the clothes in the CS just don't seem to be my style (either they are old person type clothes or very fasionable which doesn't suit my shape!)

Well this morning I woke up at 4am! I feel terrible! My glands are swollen and my chest is killing me! So weird because no matter how poorly the pregnancy made me... I never got sick, so it's been over a year since i've had a cold/virus!

I can't sleep now... so I am sorting my spreadsheets :D

  • Morning all:D

I'm a bit later this morning!

I couldn't keep my eyes open past 9pm last night after being so early & fell asleep .... queue waking up in the middle of the night & when I finally plucked up courage to look at the clock it was 2.29am:eek: a bit early for even me to get up. I wish I could sleep longer than 5 hours sometimes!:)

Lay for ages and then finally dropped off again - only been up around an hour!

Thanks for the tips JG and SOT for the house insurance covering your phone .... mine renews towards the end of May so I'll look into it then - prob not worth doing now as there's a £25 admin fee (on top of any increase in premium) when you make any changes.

So think I'll stick with the provided insurance until then and then see what can be covered when I do my annual trawl of comparison sites!:)

Well, I've managed to download a few apps:) and have generally been "playing" around with it:D (very nice!).

I will need to get a cover (have spied a nice one on Ama*zon for £4.49 incl a pen) as really worried I'll break it (I know several people who've smashed the screens on theirs). There were some screen protectors with the accessory pack so at least that's something.

I'll need to get the number transferred from my old phone so will probably be wandering around with 2 phones over the next couple of weeks!:o

JG hope you feel better soon & I'm a bit envious of your CS selection - much better than the ones around here. I too will need to buy some new clothes for work soon :( ......

    Have a great Saturday everyone:)

Thanks SOT and Rising - I have dosed up and still feel rotten... but I will muster through :)

Rising do you mean carry around 1 phone and leave the other on charge???

I am about to get ready to go out and get more CS Bargains (please remeber that these are baby clothes... adult clothing is much more expensive... even around here!)

I have to send off a faulty dummy to TT today and hope they will refund... they are being very weird about my complaint... so i'll see what happens.

I just bought a load more Christmas Pressents from TBP and I am only 3 short now for extended family (I bought all the Birthday pressents for 2012 already)! I did get DS a free gift for his Birthday and I got Eliza 2 Christmas Pressents (48 Biff and Chip books - which is way to early but such a good offer and I believe in reading! And a princess Story Book with CD for in the car - to add to DS collection) and 2 other items for her (Noisy buggy books and a CD of Nursary Rhymes - She loves singing)!

And it's all in budget as I start saving in September for the next year and can afford to buy as and when the offers are there! I will have to hold off buying too much for DS and Eliza as I normally don't have the money saved until the end of summer for their Christmas Gifts!

DS is 10 this year, and as always I only have a £100 budget but I want to make it special so I am:

Taking him to Legoland with his BF (CC Vouchers) and i'm using £10 for spending (he'll take some of his own money for bits he wants)
Taking him to the Cinema with a friend who shares his birthday (CC Vouchers) and using £10 for spending
Taking him out for a meal at the Indian he wants to go to £30 (plus he's saved £30 for my birthday as he wants this to be a joint birthday celebration)
Taking him to the Local Science Museum and Planatarium £30 plus £10 spending
I have bought him a Brickmaster Star Wars (Lego!) for £10
and FREE Second World War Fact Cards

I think he's going to have a brillient and very special birthday and all for £100!!!! How MSE of me :D

Have to go... the CS and the Bank and the Post Office are calling... I will report back on any good finds later :D

  • Rising do you mean carry around 1 phone and leave the other on charge???

No sorry didn't explain that well :o

I'll have the new one with me (access to internet will be fantastic at lunchtimes - I'll be able to read MSE during the day:j) but I'll need to keep the old one with me (in case people phone / text) as well until the number moves over to the new phone.

I believe it takes up to 2 weeks  to get the number switched over - anyone done this recently?

I don't want to give people the number on the new phone when it's only going to be in use for a couple of weeks IYSWIM?

DSs birthday sounds absolutely wonderful JG .....:T enjoy your CS hunting and look forward to hearing the results later!:)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Savvy Shopper!
I work in a CS and wish that I had a baby so I could buy baby clothes! We get so much good stuff and most sells for a £1 or so, sometimes less. I have a 11 year old DD and she has about 5 pairs of jeans, all second hand and none more than £2. Love it and really think well done to you JulieGeorgiana. Off to the car boot for me soon, sorry to butt in on this thread.
