I don't get it... IT'S A CAR!!!
Hehehe!
This coming from the woman who just impulse bought a car seat... I just can't help buying baby things, they are so CUTE!!!We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Personally I am aiming for 3 months bills and will then start overpaying the mortgage and will continue to build up to 6 months bills but at a slower pace. It's going to take months!
PS when talking about savings or saving strategy don't mention pots;)
Months ..... going to take me years at the rate I'm going!:rotfl:
Now - pots are ...... *runs and ducks for cover*:rotfl:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Ha ha yes thanks Mort & thankyou to Lianne H, rising from the ashes & backinbusiness too. I did read your whole thread like a 'lurker' do you call em?!...before I posted but was still a bit confused! I was however, like Newchapter, thrilled to hear so many people had successfully made themselves debt free & felt reassured at the same time that it wasn't just me who was struggling after coming out the other side!
As for the emergency fund I think I am going to start with £3000, which isn't quite 3 months worth of wages but it's certainly what I am capable of living off (rent, food, bills etc) In January I started saving £250 (this accounts maximum) a month into a fixed rate saver so by the end of the year that will be £3000 plus interest. As I am a part furnished renter the big household things are covered by my landlord, although my hairdryer stopped working the other day, not sure if that counts?! (luckily I was able to get a no charge replacement as it was faulty) With the £800.00 leftover from my previous savings attempts I have now set up an ISA and it would be lovely to fill it by the end of the year but realistically I think it will be the end of the financial year. Still it's a good place to start right?!
P.S. Love the car, I think you always need to have some fantasy purchases in mind0 -
Evening all. Hope you are baking away nicely in this heat
Had a good money-saving day. I was at a school fete last night with my children. (All budgeted for and everything). Got a call at work this morning to say I'd won £50 on the "Lucky Square" stall.
Got home from work to find the Road Tax refund from DVLA on my stolen (and crashed) car. £43.33
Finally, mentioned at work that I needed to replace DD2's bed (as she has been using it as a trampoline) Turns out a colleague was taking a spare black single metal bed frame to the skip tomorrow, so she's giving it to me instead.
Good and money-saving day indeed.
It's been 29 degrees where I live today. Glorious. Meant to be cutting the grass, but too hot and too tired.
Have a good weekend all.
