Tablet PC Returns Policy confusing?

the comet returns policy for tablet pcs is that if it's been switched on, you can't take it back. I want to buy online if the tablet I'm looking at is available because then I can use the distance selling act to send it back if it's not right...
I've played with it in store but I'm buying it for the family, but with the main user in mind being a five year old and need to know if I can use some things on it that she would if you know what I mean, I want to get it home, have a play without staff hovering and saying "need any help?" every 2 minutes and then decide; I'm pretty sure it's the right thing to get, but there's always that little doubt.
TL/DR: according to their site, they wont accept a return if it's been switched on. what I want to know is does this violate my distance selling act rights or not? Can I switch it on, find out it's not right and then send it back using those rights or not? because it's all very confusing!
also, can Mastercard offer me any more rights if I pay using my Dread it card? (to be paid off in full at the next bill) the price of the tablet is £129.99
thanks for any help.

Despite what they say in their T&Cs you are entitled to switch on and try it out under the terms of the DSRs. However, if you know upfront that Comet are going to be difficult about it then save yourself the bother and buy elsewhere.0

Im sure theres firms around that will accept a return if the tablet has been turned on and tried out.0

It might be difficult proving you have the right to return it as they will claim turning it on activates the software.Despite what they say in their T&Cs you are entitled to switch on and try it out under the terms of the DSRs. I can't go anywhere else as comet and laskys are the only people who stock this tablet, and both say the same thing. uuurgh lol!0

do the DSRs apply if you buy online and collect in store?0

The DSR's don't apply if you turn on the tablet whether it is bought online or instore, so you need to find another solution.do the DSRs apply if you buy online and collect in store?
Take the family member to the store, ask the assistant if they can play with it for 10 mins without interruption to see if they like it, or buy another tablet, because there are more than two outlets selling tablets.0 -
[STRIKE]yes, but not THIS tablet. it's the only one with a capacitive screen which is within our limited budget.
I think I'll have to take her in, but that means kind of letting her in on the family xmas pressie secret.
ok, found one for £50 cheaper on toys r us. going to look at it tomorrow and see if it's suitable because their returns state they will accept computers back if they're restored to factory settings. whoopwhoop!![/STRIKE]
well, after a short trip to toys r us to play with it, it was a decided no no no as it's NOT a capacitive screen... so instead of tablets, we've been looking at refurb laptops and netbooks. have possibly found a good one with warranty, 14 day returns and windows xp for the same as we were looking at that original tablet.0
