Just seen X-Ray (a BBC Wales programme a bit like BBC Watchdog).

Part of the programme was about Train Delays and they said that
You can usually claim against the rail company if your trains been delayed for just 60 minutes.

It's always worth writing to the train operating company, just ask the train/station staff for a form, or if you don't get chance the address will be on their timetables.
Write and tell them what train you were on, how long you were delayed for, and enclose your tickets, or copies of them.

You will often receive some ATOC vouchers, eventually.

We recently complained to Arriva that our reservations hadn't been put out on the train - we got £10 vouchers a few weeks later.
ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away :)
