Just seen X-Ray (a BBC Wales programme a bit like BBC Watchdog).

It's always worth writing to the train operating company, just ask the train/station staff for a form, or if you don't get chance the address will be on their timetables.
Write and tell them what train you were on, how long you were delayed for, and enclose your tickets, or copies of them.
You will often receive some ATOC vouchers, eventually.
We recently complained to Arriva that our reservations hadn't been put out on the train - we got £10 vouchers a few weeks later.ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0
