that sounds like you may of had a massive overpayment0

There's no general timescales for these queries as it can vary from case to case, and depends on them being satisfied with the documents you provide. Re the massive overpayment: that would only be 100% the case if the award was based on the lower, incorrect figure for the whole year- no payments may have been made on that income as yet.
The problem with the tax records is that they don't account for allowances and deductions that can be made when declaring your income to Tax Credits; hence why they need to verify things with claimants.0 -
thanks for your relpy i thinks they worked my award around the wrong yearend figure 17k instead of 36k but for some reason they are still paying me my award ? with no deductionsThere's no general timescales for these queries as it can vary from case to case, and depends on them being satisfied with the documents you provide. Oh yes they don't like to deduct. They just like to overpay overpay overpay til your debt gets bigger and bigger and bigger and your hair falls out."If you don't feel the bumps in the road, you're not really going anywhere "

OMG they did this to us. Instead of putting 28k they put in 18k. We owe them 7k or so. I ain't paying it back, because I KNOW we told them the correct figures, and luckily we wrote it down on the form we sent them, which they will have on record, in file, if they are organized. DH HR remembers helping him with it. Just waiting to hear back now from writing to them about it.
Sickening to be honest.0 -
The whole system of tax credits is a nightmare im still waiting to hear the outcome of wrong yearend figures they used i sent in a copy of the form which i copied and this had correct figures but they still used wrong income have to see what they come up with as of today im still receiving tax credits with no amendedment of an overpayment0

I've got one too! I just want to know what the payments will be back ?0

I know overpayments are quite common, but they send you a confirmation in writing whenever you contact them to change something, if you check it and the info is wrong you need to let them know ASAP, this doesn't always seem to happen then people incur huge overpayments because they think as they phoned they've done their bit, I'm afraid it doesn't work that way and not very often will an overpayment be reviewed and overturned in the claimants favour.0
