Applying for Jobs - Exam Results Proof

Hi

I've been made redundant and am in the process of finding a new job.

On all the applications ive filled out, it says that i will need to take proof of my exam results with me to the interviews. My problem is that I cannot find my exam certificates, bearing in mind i passed them 23 years ago!

I've rung up the college where I did my exams, to find out who the examination board was, so that I can order replacement certificates. The college have told me that their records don't go back that far and they might not be able to help me.

Could someone please advise what i should do now? I feel like there is no point in me applying for jobs, as obviously i will have no proof of examinations results to take with me, so I will be turned down for any position straight away because of this.

Any advice would be grateful. Thanks

I always put on applications all gcse passes, thats all. I do know of some exam boards charging a fee something like £25 for results.
  • The awarding bodies for GCSEs (I assume you were in the 90s) were;

London and East Anglian Examining Group (formed by the University of London School Examinations Board, the London Regional Examination Board and the East Anglian Examinations Board)

Midland Examining Group (MEG, formed by the Southern Universities' Joint Board, the Oxford and Cambridge Schools Examination Board, East Midland Regional Examinations Board and the West Midlands Examinations Board)

Northern Examining Association (NEA, formed by the Joint Matriculation Board, the Associated Lancashire Schools Examining Board, the Northern Regional Examinations Board, the North West Regional Examinations Board and the Yorkshire Regional Examinations Board)

Southern Examining Group (SEG, formed by the Associated Examining Board, the University of Oxford Delegacy of Local Examinations, the South East Regional Examinations Board, South West (Regional) Examinations Board and Southern Regional Exams Board)
From your location I am guessing it may have been Midland Examining Group and likely to be the Oxford and Cambridge Schools Examination Board, now OCR.

Try googling them, many awarding bodies have changed hands in the last few years, try OCR, Pearson Education.

    good luck.

terrible maths! C- 1 hours detention.

    23 years ago + 16 = 39. So it was the eighties.

Oh close enough, they only started GCSE in '88.

  • I have never been asked to show proof. I just started a job with the ambulance service 5 weeks ago and despite saying they wanted prove on the application I have yet to be asked.

I have never known anybody to actually show certificates.

you can have a B- and no detention or a B+ and 2 hours.
