Calling UK from Turkey

Hi, Please could anyone give me any advice on the cheapest way to call home frm Turkey? I have Vodafone Passport but it's not available for Turkey and calls from my mobile are £1.65 per minute! I am staying in a hotel so will have access to a landline - is there a pre pay card/ number I can use to call home?

Any advice is appreciated as last time I ran up a £200 phone bill......

you should find phone boxes on just about every street corner in Turky (in the popular areas anyway). You buy a phone card from any grocery shop/mini market, and use it in the public phones. Its much cheaper than using your mobile in Turkey.

If you have a laptop or netbook, you can use wifi to use Googlemail's phone facility, which will cost just a few pence a minute.

We used it in the US this year, calls home for 2p/min.

davetrousers - thnak you for your reply. I have just tried to find some more information about the goolemail service, do you mean Google Voice as it says it is only available in the US - or is it somethng else?

It is very expensive to use your mobile in turkey, but you can buy phone cards for five pounds
