Credit Card Transaction Fee Query

in Credit cards
Hi guys,
I wonder if anyone can help me out with this.
I recently made an online purchase for £198 and paid by credit card. Throughout the whole process there was no mention of a fee to pay using one method or another. The receipt I have in my inbox and printed out after the payment went through states the total is £198 and even references which card I used. When I checked my credit card statement, the amount taken was £203.84 and when I queried this with the company they stated that this was a credit card transaction fee of 2.95%, as stipulated on their site.
The only place I can find this referenced is in the small print of their T&Cs and I have gone through the payment process again, right up to the confirm transaction button and there is definitely no mention of this fee on these pages.
Are they allowed to do this? I would have thought the the total payment that you confirm to go from your bank/credit card would be the final amount as this is all I authorised? Are they allowed to add this fee on afterwards, just because it is in the small print of their T&Cs?
Any help/advice would be appreciated - I know it's only a small amount of money, but it's the principle - if I had known, I would have simply paid on a debit card!
Many thanks

What's the problem, you were advised, it's in the T&C's as you've pointed out - 'just because it is in the small print of their T&Cs'
Foreign website/foreign transaction = 2.95% surcharge = very much standard practice = perfectly legal !!!!!!0 -
I think OP's complaint is that he was not advised of the charge until he had completed the transaction.
If this is true I think he has a point. (Even Ryanair can't get away with this LOL)
OP why not name the website so that we can take a lok.0
