Last time we went in there a sales assistant 'targeted' my six-year-old daughter and gave her the hard sell! Lots of showing the products in a bowl of water, getting her involved...and plenty of 'how about this one'. We had only gone in there to get her one bathbomb as a treat for being good - it was really difficult to leave with that one bathbomb and we ended up buying a couple. Having refused to add the extra one would have turned a treat into a situation where DD would have felt unhappy and angry. (And, no, she's not spoilt!)
I used to shop there a lot, but due to the above and the high prices I have stopped going in.
I read somewhere that their soaps aren't necessarily hand-made from scratch, but that they buy a soap base and then add ingredients/colour, etc. Not sure how true it is.0 -
I used to like their products, but they really aren't as natural and ethical as they claim. On top of everything else, nearly every product has artificial fragrances! And that's after they charge you far too much for the token amount of real fragrance they include. I also had problems with their soaps blocking the drains.
I buy soaps, shampoo and moisturisers from a little company online now and they're much better. They don't sell solid shampoos, but I just use the soap sometimes (the shampoo has the effect of shampoo + a good conditioner, it's magic). Effective, doesn't strip away skin/hair moisture, smells divine, pretty but natural colours, green credentials - everything Lush claims to provide but doesn't!0 -
I quite like Lush stuff but agree it is expensive. In the Lush catalogue they list all the ingredients for their products and colour code them so that you know which are natural and which are synthetic and they usually give explanations about why they are using the synthetic ones. It's also really useful to know which products are vegan as I can buy them for my vegan friends as presents. It is getting expensive though:(0
