Lush Products

Sodium lauryl sulphate is found in most products which foam up. It is cheap and foams easily so is used to bulk up products and make them cheaper. It was first developed as an engine degreaser, and is used in clinical trials as a skin irritant. Not a nice chemical to use on your skin everyday! I've recently cut out SLS and had big improvements on my skin.
I think it is really unfair that companies like lush and simple use SLS so widely in their products, but try to give the impression they are skin friendly and natural.
If anyone is interested in going SLS free the body shop rainforest shampoos etc. are free of SLS, and the brand Good Things sold in superdrug and sainsburys are really nice and around the same price as simliar products.0 -
I used to love Lush, but I can't stand it now. The products are full of harsh or questionable ingredients as mentioned above, which doesn't fit with their image but they keep quiet about it.
Also, if I want to buy a bar of soap, I just want to be allowed to buy it. I don't want to be lectured on deforestation / orangutangs / fox hunting / greyhound racing by a sales assistant who's been shown a ten minute video and then told this is the "cause" they have to berate customers about this month. I got fed up to the back teeth of this, though it was fun if you expressed a reasoned argument for the opposite view and watched them flounder.Egg Loan - [strike]£4921.84[/strike] £0!! :j Barclaycard - £3866.47 Legal + Trade - [strike]£2700.96[/strike] £0!! :j Triton - [strike]£1730.89[/strike] £0!! :j Next - [STRIKE]£776.15[/STRIKE] £126.88 Littlewoods - [strike]£217.16[/strike] £0!! :j Housemate - [strike]£1300[/strike] £0!! :j Capital One - [STRIKE]£1652.51[/STRIKE] £1,081.58 Vanquis - [strike]£2337.75[/strike] £375.58

I still love some of their perfumes, Ladyboy and Breath of God.
The soaps blocked my bathroom sink drain, whatever it turned to slimy layer on the drain pipe. Had to get drain unblocker and stopped buying them.
Now the SLS there is a coconut based foaming agent used which sounds very similar sodium palmiate(sp) and its gentle and used in quite few natural ingredients. I believe that is what Lush uses.
But the stuff got so expensive bathbombs etc I just stopped buying.0 -
once or twice a year I might indulge myself.
Few bath bombs or hadmade soap.
They are a bit expensive BUT ok for a treat.
Staff are helpful \ knowledgeable (never found them pushy) and some you can butter up for a few freebies!!!
Don't know about eco credentials0 -
Containing synthetic chemicals they shouldn't be describing themselves as natural but most products people use contain chemicals. Unless you go away from high street stores its hard to avoid it. Plus being natural won't necessarily mean something is good for you!
I won't go in there because the smell gives me a headache!0 -

Whenever I've 'tried' to like (buy!) a Lush shower or bath product, one look at the ingredients and 9 times out of 10 it contains the dreaded SLS or SLES etc, etc, only one scrubby bar I've found doesn't contain it. I have to avoid SLS for a skin condition so have to be ultra aware what I use! It's such a shame that they don't use the coconut based cleansing ingredient because I would buy a shower gel/bubble bar for myself now and again if they used that! It all comes down to profit in the end methinks!0 -
I absolutely adore Lush - I have tons of their stuff.0

I used to get loads of stuff there as I love a good soaky bath with a glass of wine and a good book as a treat but it is just so expensive I can't justify it anymore so last Christmas I asked my mum to get me various ingredients and scents to get me going and now I make my own. Maybe they don't quite look as pretty but they smell as good, are lovely in the bath and I know exactly what is in them and can leave out any ingredient I'm not happy with. I am looking into making solid shampoos next as I do like their jumping juniper one although I prefer the name I bought i under in Italy (Gintonic)!0

Agree with this 100% - really pees me off.
Product wise i buy the facemasks and bubble bath bars - although i keep them bath bars as i treat as i use a whole one at a time.
I like some of the shower gels; but they are too expensive so try and avoid them.
