United Utilities Visit tomorrow

I had a letter the other day from them saying that they are coming to confirm the water meter and occupation details at my property but do we have anything to worry about?

I have been in my home about 3 years and have never had a visit like this from them.

we pay our water rates via our disability living allowance so could that be a reason?

Are you claiming discounts on the water due to health issues? If not i would tell them to sod off.

Nope no discounts just having it taken out of our DLA.
  • Could it be that they are going to tell you about the discount that is available for some disabilities to see if you qualify?

Well after staying in all morning they never turned up
  • Could be that they're also going to check whether you are connected to the main sewers. We have our water supplied by UU, and by default they assume you are connected, and charge by the meter reading for sewerage, with a standing charge for rainwater disposal (even though there's no sewer within striking distance of our house). We had to point out to them that we have a septic tank, and soakaways for the rainwater, and they came to the house to check this before they would refund / amend future bills.
