hi all im new on here and would like some advice on saving into my stocks and shares isa in the current climate. i currently have 42k in a halifax growth fund which i pay 500 a month into. and a cash isa with 13k in that i dont put anything in. with the euro crisis and everyone saying stock markets could be hit should i stop paying into s a s isa and pay into cash isa for a while?. im mid 40s and the s a s isa was a long term investment but should i leave it there or is there a better way to use the money in it in your opinions?. cheers

i meant to say stock markets could be hit with the greeks not agreeing to the measures to keep them in the euro0

i suppose you could cash it in and put it on bonds, if you suspect we may have another crash. if you want the money for retirement then eventually it will need to go back into stock linked growth funds for best growth.if there is one fact about the stock market it is that every crash has eventually recovered and boomed.0

I would suggest that you continue paying into the S&S ISA - shares are relatively cheap at the moment. Assuming that you wont need the savings for another 20 years or so, the Greek crisis will be long gone as will half a dozen future crises when you finally switch to cash.
Trying to go in and out of shares is rarely a successful strategy. Sure you could sell now, but how would you know when to get back in? The chances are that you would leave it too late.
You may want to review which funds you invest in. Everything in one fund when you have a sizeable investment is not a good idea, and there may be better funds than the Halifax growth one.0 -
cheers celtic and linton. linton i dont need the money yet it is realy just as much as i can save on top of my pension so it is for the future. so do you think i should maybe stop paying into the halifax growth fund leaving it at 42 and start putting the 500 elswhere? any advice where to put it please0

I agree with Linton - diversification would be a good idea. If it's the UK growth fund performance has been mixed, you would have done just as well or better over 3 or 5 years with a tracker (which would have much lower charges). http://www.bestinvest.co.uk/investment-research/fund-research/fact-sheet/hbosukgc/halifax-uk-growth-c/performance"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
