Thats a nice way to keep you lol, my mum called Barlcays to lower her credit limit from £8,000 to £3,000 and they wouldn't let her untill she provided them with her job details and income and they wouldn't explain to her why they needed these to lower her limit.0

I want to close my LloysTsb Platinum card but I overpaid.
May I ask them to transfer overpayment to my current bank account?

Similarly to many in this forum, I have a dormant account which is not in use, albeit it is a current account and not credit card.
Would it be positive to one's credit score to cancel an unused current account, or is there a possibility that it could be detrimental to the credit score, as it is a current account and not credit?
Thanks0 -
Does anyone happen to know how long you have to wait after cancelling a Tesco credit card before becoming a new customer? It's not on the list on the relevant page.
Many thanks

PS I recently tried to cancel my Capital One CC by writing them a letter, specifically instructing them to terminate our agreement. They have refused this on the basis that I still have an unused credit (due to cashback) of 34p! It will clearly cost more than this to do anything else at this juncture. Any suggestions?0 -

From the 'Apply' page:Tesco wrote:You can apply if:
Your annual income is £5,000 or more
You and any additional card holders are aged 18 or over
You live in the UK (this includes BFPO address but excludes the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands)
You have a good credit history
You have NOT applied for a credit card from Tesco Bank in the last 6 months
You do not currently hold a Tesco Bank Credit Card
So technically, straight away should be fine.tiredofpoorservice wrote: »I recently tried to cancel my Capital One CC by writing them a letter, specifically instructing them to terminate our agreement. Just spend 34p on the card. Easiest way to do this is to log in to your online account for a gas / electric / mobile phone / broadband provider - most of these will allow you to pay an amount of your choice by credit card. It'll just reduce your next direct debit by 34p.0 -

Unfortunately, "technically" and "in fact" often appear to be poles apart in my experience.
Anyway, I think I might treat myself to a 34p bar of chocolate some time soon (but I will still have to go through the hassle of sending another bloomin' letter, grumble, grumble, grumble...).
Thanks for the advice.
