Same items on Ebay Shop and private website

Hi all.

I ordered a roll of twine from a craft Ebay Shop. When I received the item, the seller had put their private website address on a compliment slip inside the package. On their private website, it appears that they sold different items to their Ebay Shop.

I was therefore just wondering if Ebay restricts their shop owners from selling the same products or the same products at the same prices on their private websites?

A few of the sellers I have dealt with have always included their private website in the package.

Thanks for your input.

No reason to prevent sellers selling via ebay or directly or both surely?
Ebay is just a selling marketplace nothing more.

I often experiment with adding business card type bits to my ebay parcels. In the past I have advertised my own website, and more recently I have advertised my stores on ebid.

Unfortunately neither my web site or my ebid stores have ever received any trade through this route, and i have in fact now close dmy website.

Dad wanted some electrical connectors so i gave him a bag i had bought on ebay. He needed a few more than
he thought, Not wanting to use all mine he wanted some himself.

He found the bags had labels on with the item codes and his website URL.

One extra sale for them because of that.

Buyers trust ebay much more than most small websites and are more likely to go back to ebay for repeat purchases. You can persuade some to buy from your website if you offer lower prices or discounts but even then I think most will still return to ebay and the perceived extra protection it gives.
