The 5 days delay scandel?

I am a Nationwide customer. I move money between my various Nationwide accounts instantly online just like most people can with their banks or building societies.
Why oh why then does it take 5 days to transfer money from my Nationwide current account which is shown as instantly debited but take a further 5 days to arrive in the Nationwide credit card account?
I have asked this question various times online to Nationwide and they just dont not answer the question. They just keep telling me it has left my current account on blah blah date, which I already know?
I have sent the question in as a complaint now and I have heard nothing for 4 days now although to be fair it does say they aim to reply to emails within 5 days?
Not very good CS I'm afraid.
I have a feeling the BS and banks profit from money that is held in electronic cyberspace before it credits your CC.

Asked Nationwide the exact same question. I've never had any sort of sensible reply either.

Something similar. If you're presented with a Cheque in the U.S., and you decided to cash that cheque, then you can instantly as long as you take it to the bank whose cheque it is. No delay, nothing - instant cash.
  • Credit cards are not on the same system as normal branch accounts.A d/d would take the correct amount on the correct date.

If i pay a credit card from my flex account it reaches my flex credit card within 2 days. never had any problems!
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.
  • I transfer money between our nationwide current account and our woolwich account and it's normally clear within 3 days (More recently 2 days..). Not sure why it takes 5 days for credit card companies though.

Takes 2 working days when I pay. Does your 5 days include non-working days?

NW seems to have really huge delays in money transfer, I posted a while ago about taking over 3 weeks to post a payment of Cash to my credit card accont so I can completely understand your 5 day wait
  • Well hopefully when Faster Payments finally gets introduced, all of this will be a thing of the past
