Threat made during unsolicited phone call?

Hi, just wondered if anyone else had been bothered as I have by some firm calling out of the blue? They have been phoning me incessantly over the last few days but as I am at work during the day I haven't been answering the calls. I rang the number back after the first few times but can't hear the name of the caller properly.
Anyway, they have just rung me back so as I am now home from work, I did answer this time. I was told I was due £2500 from my bank as I have taken out loans during the past ten years. The caller then asked me whether these loans were still outstanding or whether they had been paid off. I said that I was not prepared to discuss financial information with someone I had not asked to call me. I remained polite but firm I think.
The response was amazing! The salesman retorted that "ok we will fill the forms in with your details and we will keep the £2500. You won't get anything now."
Has anyone had any experience of that type of call?? I am gobsmacked! I don't believe him for one minute, I haven't had PPI or anything, the banks have charged me but that's fine I have used their services, so I'm not expecting or asking for anything back from anyone!! Just wondered what the views of the forum members are?

They were probably just frustrated that their business has gone downhill since people realised they could do their own PPI reclaims.
Sure, you could probably make a complaint but why sweat it? Nothing will come of it.
Just be satisfied with the knowledge that you have a decent job and your next wage packet doesn't depend on tricking people into reclaiming money for them that they could do for free by themselves.0 -
I've had phonecalls from a company offering to reclaim my PPI, as I'm not in a position to reclaim any PPI their phonecalls are a 'waste their time excercise'.;)0

I received a call today from a Company who assured me that as my credit card company increased my credit limit without my written consent I could claim up to £2K in compensation. I told him that I had never incurred any charges/interest leading from the increased credit limit but he was adamant that I could claim. I then pressed him as to the cost of this - a bargain £49.95 refundable upfront cost! At no point during this conversation did I have any intention of making a claim, but it's raining here and I had nothing better to do. These type of unsolicited calls really need to be clamped down on.0
