Esa & ctc

my 16 year old gets dla and has jus started a course and they have given us a form to fill in so he can also get ESA. Am i right in thinking if he gets this i will no longer get CTC for him , which is more because of the disabled premium

Yes the Child Benefit (ChB) and Child Tax Credits (CTC) will cease if the child claims ESA (in youth). However, depending on the group the claimant is placed the ESA may be more but this depends on circumstances and you should seek more in-depth benefits advice for the CAB or an advisor at your local uni's Students Union (if local) if the child is considering going to uni in the future.

It is the young person's choice whether they wish to claim ESA. And if claimed the ChB and CTC will stop.
Don't thank me, thank my post :T
