Buying a 19" TFT - Advice please!

I’m looking to buy a 19” TFT monitor – I’ve got a budget of about £140. There is an awful lot of choice at the moment in that price range!
I don’t want widescreen and am not bothered about DVI.
I’m interested in the LG 1919s – it’s in the new Argos catalogue for £149.99 but I can get 10% off this which makes it a tempting deal. The spec seems good. Then if I have any problems - eg dead pixels – and I can return it easily to the store.
Does anyone have any experience of LG TFTs – are they any good?
As an alternative I’m looking at Samsung and Viewsonic TFTs (with 8ms response rates like the LG) for around £140 – are these brands any better than LG or is quality pretty much the same at this ‘budget end’ of the market?
Any advice welcome!

What will you be using it for?
Depending upon use, you may want to avoid certain panel types. For example a TN panel often has low refresh rates, but very poor viewing angles. This makes it ideal for gaming, but often poor for general use, or graphical work, watching videos etc..."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
www.ebuyer.com or www.aria.co.uk all monitors come with a 3 year onsite guarentee I would look for back to base on the warrenty and look at both these sights I got a 19" CTX LCD monitor 2 years ago from ebuyer and had no trouble with it at all, and when I get my son one in march I'll be using both these sites to bag a bargain, 3 years onsite means if it goes wrong you ring the company up CTX and they come out and exchange it for another one, just like that, no problem relisys are good for that.

I've got a 19" monitor that came with my Dell. TBH I think it's a bit too large and that 17" might have been better.Happy chappy0

My oldest screen is an LG. It gets daily use on a machine for one of my kids. It was bought in about 2000 or 2001, and has even outlasted a CRT I subsequently bought.
A good bit of kit.I can spell - but I can't type0 -
Surely you mean response time?wolfman wrote:...a TN panel often has low refresh rates...0 -
Yeah noticed that after I posted it, didn't bother changing it. Freudian slip of the tongue."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0

I've got a Hanns.G too (widescreen though) - excellent display, & good value at only £105 from Amazon last September. Don't be put off by the name or the low price. It's a German brand by the way. G0
