Argos staff are they deliberately misleading?

You are right and also in your previous post saying that the best way is to deal with is to see the Manager. However it seems from the OP that the OP's parents were given misleading infomation.this can happen if you have a large chain like Argos. it could be a case of having each store allocated 100 items to sell at the sales price after that the full price applies.
so you see this advert and think oh i will like one of them, but decided to go to the shop at 4pm in the afternoon so at that time the store has sold out of its allocation of the item at the sales price
The op suggests that the sales assistant said that they were getting the laptop for £229 because it was £249 and then they got the £20 in vouchers, this does depend on assuming 2 things:
Firstly that the OP has been acurate with their post and secondly that the advert didn't state that the reduced price included the £20 vouchers. If the staff have been given incorrect info regarding the offer, then the op may have a case.Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0
