Separate Line Rental & Call Package?

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody knew if it is possible to pay line rental to one company and have a call package with another.

Thing is, my broadband package has an inclusive anytime call package with all orders, even if you just get standalone broadband it's still there.

Is it possible to have my line rental with the Primus Saver at the £6.79 and have my call package with my broadband supplier? I'm a little confused as to what the sales operator was talking about. I can get line rental from my broadband provider but it's an additional £15.60, so she was saying "get rental with somebody else and use us for your call package".

How is this done?

Thanks so much in advance for any help.

Yes. There used to be many companies offer Carrier PreSelect calls packages while line rental continued to be paid to BT - but the number has reduced over recent years.

That reduction coincided with BT Wholesale's WCLI (Wholesale Calls, Line Independent) calls package coming onto the market and a number of companies now offer that instead of CPS. Sky was one such company but they have since begun a rapid expansion of their line rental market and new customers cannot now have Sky Talk without also taking Sky line rental.

However, only BT allows CPS (they are required to do so by the regulator because of their dominant position n the telecoms market) so you cannot do what you want to do.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
