My Orange saga

Fortnight ago decided to cancel Bt phone and broadband. After some research went for the Orange deal. Phoned company offered £17.25 deal.Delighted and signed up there and then.
Next day had email from Orange confirming deal but at £30. Phoned Orange and they told me as I was outside their main area I would be paying a higher price. This was not mentioned at all by the sales rep when I signed up.
I complained about this and rep said they would check recording of my conversation and phone back within 48hrs to see if anything could be done.Of course there was no call back, so I phoned Orange who said there was no record of my second call! I decided the easiest would be for me to cancel deal there and then and I was assured that would be done and that would be the end of the matter.
Anyway last weekend my broadband failed and after several phone calls to BT it turns out that Orange had migrated my broadband.I have also started to receive letters from Orange asking me to reinstate my DD ot they will charge me penalties. A couple of further calls to Orange have confirmed account closed but I am really doubtful in view of the shambles that has been created.
Has anyone any thoughts on whether I should do anymore to finally put a stop to this nonsense? Fortunately I have mobile broadband, whilst expensive, is invaluable in an emergency.

You didn't do your research on this forum then, did you?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

If you did the original deal by phone and wanted to cancel next day, then DSR should apply. However I'd never trust any telecom to do this, so confirming the cancellation in writing by recorded delivery is always safest.
At least you've avoided ending up with Orange permanently.
