Im meant to be going to holiday on Monday, we had everything sorted out and a few weeks ago I checked our document folder where we keep important things like insurance policies, passports etc etc, seeing 2 passports in there I never thought any more of it.
Today though I was taking the passports out to put in our bag and noticed it's my partner's passport and my dad's and not mine, I just presumed both of them were ours and not my dad's. I now have no clue where mine is and have searched all over the house.
Judging by the passport site I have no chance of getting now as I wouldnt be able to go to the passport office and get a new one on the day. I phoned the number on their site and spoke to an arrogant sounding !!!!!! who didnt sound interested at all, just kept saying no, no, no, tough luck blah blah blah. I guess he's right although my passport is due to expire in around 8 months and I have a photocopy with the numbers etc, is there no way this would be ok to take to a passport office for renewal? Any other advice would be good ta.

I'd keep trying them on the phone and hope you get through to someone thats a bit more helpful. I think it's unlikely though that you'll get a passport in time. Could you ask your dad if he knows where your passport might be?!0

Been on the site, according to it I wont be able to make an appointment and get a new passport as it's been lost without having to wait a week although someone tells me they done this very thing not so long ago.0 -
Think you might struggle with this as by the look of the website the same day service isn't available if you have lost your passport. Think you might be best tearing the house apart to look for it. I'd also suggest keep phoning the Passport Agency helpline until you get someone who at least sounds interested in trying to help - and if they can't help you then you probably are stuck.0

Would it be worth going to the passport office yourself? I know it's going to be a journey but it would be worth it not to ruin your holiday.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Hmm, first thing you need to do is SEARCH your entire home, top to bottom. And then get your padre to SEARCH his entire home top to bottom.
If that fails, make sure you report your passport to the police as lost.
It seems the only way to get a passport quickly, is to be able to get one in person by using the premium same day service:

Check with the airline and try and get info regarding the country you are going to. I *think* some may let you fly with a Photographic drivers licence, but I believe you would *have* to have your passport for your flight back to the UK, so you would need to come up with some arrangement of getting your passport in teh 1 week service and getting a next day international courier to send it to you on holiday before you return (at huge cost no doubt)0

The only ones that will let you do that are Ireland and the Channel Islands (oh and maybe the Isle of Man)."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
I phoned again and got through to someone who was in a far better mood than the last guy I got through to. He made me an appointment for tomorrow morning and said it's probably doubtful that the fast track service would reach me in time but it's at the office's discretion whether they issue me one the same day. Also said it would be far better if I took my holiday documents to the office with me showing my flight times etc and they are likely to issue me one within a few hours in my hand.
I did ask my dad when I discovered I had his, I remembered though that when he went on holiday with us before that we kept his passport in our bag at all times and he never had a passport on him at any time, nor did he ask for it back so couldnt have gave him mine by mistake.0 -

Have you checked your flight bag / suitcases etc.
