Hi
im starting to think about my husbands xmas present and for a long time he has mentioned he would like a pair of wireless headphones
i would love to get him a pair but wouldnt know where to start looking for a decent pair so thought i would ask on her for advice
he would use them for listening to the tv,dvds etc but also for watching/listening to stuff on his ipad and laptop
budget wise ideally no more than £200 but could stretch to slightly more for a excellent quality pair
thanks in advance

From what I've heard, even low quality wireless headphones are quite expensive... But you could get a pretty amazing set of wired headphones for £200 or £300, though...
(Sorry - that probably doesn't help if hubby is set on a wireless pair...)0 -
Are you looking for wireless in the home or out and about?
If it's for indoors and around the home I cannot fault sennheiser, I have a pair of rs180's, excellent headphones, don't waste your money on over priced beats by dre headphones, you can buy a far superior set of Bose or sennheiser for the same if not less.
Actually just read your post again, it seems it will be mainly indoors use.....so the 180's would be ideal and under your budget, just.
Have a look here;

I agree absolutely with TazR that the Sennheiser RS models are the ones to go for.
The only thing I'd add to his recommendation of the excellent RS 180 is that these are open headphones (which means that you can still hear other sounds around you when you're wearing them) and your husband might prefer closed ones (which prevent extraneous sounds getting in when you are listening to things).
It all depends on how he'd want to use them. Personally, I prefer the closed ones - but that's just me.
If he'd rather have the closed version, they're called the RS 170 and are available here from the same seller on eBay that TazR suggested.
The SR 180 model also has a dial to vary the volume level between the left-hand and the right-hand cups, which can be helpful in compensating for any hearing imbalance from which the wearer may suffer. The RS 170 model doesn't. So that might be an additional factor to take into consideration.
A couple of points to bear in mind: firstly, they operate digitally on the 2.4 MHz radio frequency, which is the same one that single band wireless routers use, so you need to ensure that they aren't both set to use the same channel; secondly, when first used, they need to bed in for a few hours, so don't be disappointed if they don't sound wondrous straight out of the box on Christmas Day - they'll very soon sound greatly better!
If he's after a set of headphones that are smaller than these, the full Sennheiser range is here. But both the RS 170 and the RS 180 are superb. They're the best wireless ones Sennheiser makes. I love mine!Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

The RS 180 is a good headset, good sound, did receive a 5* review in what HIFI.
Only thing I would say is, they may not be the best headset for a ipad or laptop, especially if he wants to move around the house, as it does have a bulkyish transmitter. Perfect for TVs HIFI systems, PC,s.
Also they cheaper on Amazon at the moment. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-RS-180-Wireless-Headphone/dp/B002TLT10S/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1320265416&sr=1-1 or the RS 170 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-RS-170-Wireless-Headphone/dp/B002TLT10I/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1320265416&sr=1-2
Maybe a wired set of headphones or earbuds for the laptop and ipad (2 xmas pressies)Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
This is a bit of a minefield as there is some complexity to what works with the iPod/iPad but if I were buying now I would consider the Sony DR-BT 101 B.
I have an older Sony product I use with my iPod via Bluetooth and it is great.0 -

That's so true (for most 'phones). I'm always disappointed the first time I listen to a pair! I find that sticking them in a drawer and playing moderately loud, energetic music on them for about 24hrs gets rid of that shrill abrasive sound.0
