now none of the above seem specifically the fault of Unions
And some of them are not true.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. indeed so
I'm just been asking for specific checkable information about unions recommending that people leave pension schemes.
I'm not doubting that people in both public and private sector are very confused about their pensions (even if there is a wealth of info expecially in the public sector available) and I'm not doubting that the number of people expecially in the private sector in pension schemes is falling
the reasons why are several and at this moment in time I don't have checkable info that it's all the unions fault.
A quick search or troll back through this board will give you several employees (particularly the NHS funnily enough) who have been told by union reps their pensions will be 'rubbish'. Posted here by employees who are union members.0 -

Over the years, we have seen many NHS members post all sorts of strange things to this board after being told something bad about pensions. Locally, it is always the NHS workers that seem to hear of rumours or changes [which are not happening]. More recently, the forum has seen a number of NHS workers posting similar things just as you say.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). they have not actually provided any evidence; it's all some-one I work with said.....
the NHS unions have pretty comprehensive website that do NOT suggest people leave their pension scheme
in terms of the private sector the only 'winners' from people leaving the pension scheme is the employer but no evidence has been provided yet; maybe you're suggesting that the union reps are getting back handers from management?
or was the the key point of your post indicated by use of the word 'troll'0 -
There is potential political advantage to the union by "advising" people to leave their schemes also, as they could then point the blame squarely at the current administration for "ruining" their pensions.
There are lots of potential benefits to unions. Don't be so naive.I am an Independent Financial AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as an Independent Financial Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Actually I beleive some said union reps said this, and not just a bloke down the pub although there were plenty of those as well. Posters/leaflets were also mentionned which were handed out/put up by reps.0

What happens if I have an issue? I'll tell you - I research the information required, speak to people to ensure that I'm not getting the wrong end fo the stick, and present my grievances to management in the appropriate and well-constructed way. If I have a case on legal grounds, they are obliged to give me satifaction. If I don't, nothing changes.
Isn't that normally the argument used here for employing an IFA (or indeed any other professional/tradesman) vice doing it yourself? You could spend time & effort going DIY (and you might save money or totally !!!! it up) or you could get an expert in to do it for you0 -

no-one as far I am aware actually posted an example up so we could all read it0 -
Probably because they didn't feel the need to vandalise by pulling it down to scan for you? Who knows.
I go on what I am told by union members. I don't really see why they would lie when most beleive the cr*p they are fed before they get here. I can't see the motive.0 -
On 1st october I was Tupe'd from one NHS employer to another. My previous trust employed 13000 people, I worked there 18 years and NEVER saw any pensions advice from unions. There were flyers on notice boards from unions stating that government changes would mean we pay more, get less and work longer- this is what the government have said so it must be true! My new employer is smaller, employing only 7000 people- as yet I have seen no information regarding pensions from unions.
It may suit some to paint all the unions as militant types, but this is far from true. My own union the RCN has never had a strike or any form of industrial action in it's whole history. In fact the RCN has never even held a vote for industrial action.0
