in Credit cards
I heard avery interesting article yesterday on my local radio station phone-in about the Baillif programme on ITV 1 on Monday night. The caller said that if you fall behind in credit card payments and the lender sells the debt at a fraction to one of these recovery companies without your permission, you should write to the company saying "Dear ******, I believe you have paid off my debt with (Mint,RBS,Barclaycard ect ect), I write to say thank you very much for doing this for me it is very kind of you, I would now be grateful if you no longer contacted me as I will charge you to reply......yours sincerely ......
The caller quoted the Bill of Exchange Act 1888 which governs this and it is absolute fact. Is this too good to be true as I have 3 of these companies on my case ?????????

Sounds a bit to good to be true, this "industry" of selling debt on and then them recovering it is worth millions, probably billions each year. I can't see them being caught out by an act from 1888. On the other hand, if it is right, I bet they find a way round it!0

didnt a david ike come up with that nonesense, it has landed so many people in deep hot water.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Firstly, as has been explained on your other thread: NO. Negatory. Nuh-huh.
Secondly, posting the same trash twice makes you tedious, not smart, interesting or even merely correct. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Callow:
Your letter works as a delaying tactic but I am not sure what the strategy achieves in the longer term. You are neither paying it off nor ignoring it until eventually it is no longer pursued.
IMO the top part of your letter reads well, but you should drop the part about the points the bank should consider in accepting your proposal. What you have written here is mostly irrelevant0
