Although there were some vague promises made in November:
...we still haven't seen anything concrete and I'd like to see more signatures on the e-petition - not to force a debate in parliament but to show the level of public interest. Please sign if you haven't already."The Government will consider allowing child trust fund holders to convert their money into a junior Isa in future ..."

The original e-petition in this thread is now closed, but garnered 5,226 signatures so there is clearly a great deal of support - there is a new e-petition to allower the transfer of CTFs to Junior ISAs. Apologies for not including the link - as a fresher to the site, apparently I'm not allowed to post links, although try this - epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/454690

Please post the URL with a few blanks in it. Those of us keen enough to go to the petition will figure out how to reconstruct the URL.:cool:0

The issue was discussed in last weeks moneybox
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/programmes/money_box/transcripts/money_box_16_feb_13.pdf
(starts about halfway down page 3)
The hope is that the issue will be addressed in the Budget on 20th March
And of course there's the big sticky thread above where this is being discussed (and an active link to the e-petition has already been posted)

What risks?
Charges cannot eat the amount up. That is not possible.
It depends on the nature of the charges. The planned F&C charges being a fixed amount per year could eat up the amount over a period of time if the charges are taken from the fund.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
