Payments to CEOs specifically Antonio Horta-Osorio

Good to see that an obscene "compensation" package, once again got the right man for the job.
I think the stress may have been caused by having to carry that much cash around.

Wonder if he's on SSP right now?!!
  • Obviously the strain of trying to do with Lloyds what he achieved at Santander was proving too much. Mercifully Lloyds does not seem to be too Santanderised at present and still functions as a bank.

It's probably the shock of getting access to figures giving some idea of the extent of the so far unrevealed outstanding liabilities of Lloyds Banking Group.

  • Could he not have had a wee siesta in the afternoon?

That would probably just make things worse by him having nightmares. ;)

I'm going to play devil's advocate here, as I'm weary of all the 'banker bashing' that goes on...

He's managing one of, if not the largest state-owned business and therefore is responsible for millions of people's money (including mine). I am pretty much certain that he will work at least 60 hour weeks, seldom sees his family and gets constant earache from self-serving, ignorant politicians. His daily stress levels will be something most people will never experience in their entire working lives.

So what if he needs some time off to recuperate? Don't we all?
    LBM February 2011
Total Debt at LBM = £9,726
    Current Debt = £2,267
    Cleared = £7,459 (76%)

I agree with your 2nd para.

But not your 3rd. What did he expect when he took the job and rewards package. I would suggest that he he is out of his depth to run out of steam so quickly.

I'm not criticising Antonio Horta-Osorio. LBG were in a mess long before he arrived. He may just not have realised how big the mess was.

Sorry, the whole point is that we are told that the size of his package* was essential to attract the very best. The very best don't have a touch of the vapours after a few months. And this is not banker bashing, this is greed bashing.

    *£13,400,000 just for signing on!

I wouldn't be surprised, if it turns out in a few months time, "fatigue" is just a side effect of a more serious health condition.
