I was saying that the price for the tiling seemed very fair at 'friends and family' rates.
The explanation for the variety of costs for tiling was both additional for the OP and for others who might read the post. It was not meant to be having a go at anyone. Furthermore, it will help others understand why professionals don't give quotes over the phone, they go and see a job first.
If that is sticking my neck out then so be it. My neck, my risk. Sorry to anyone who takes offence due to my lack of ability to explain myself properly.
  • Is a good price love.

It's a decent price, if it's his full time work he has gave you a discount. What did you expect?

Would you be willing to take a week off your work unpaid and go give him a hand say doing his garden/painting his house ?

Why do people keep going on about £m2 rate? If the porcs are large or highly polished or need sealing then the rate would be more. It maddens me as a professional to hear people keep harping on about it.
If I did the same area in large format porcs and the same again in smaller ones then the price would be different. It comes down to factors such as area to be tiled, awkwardness or shape of area, level and several other factors. So when people phone me and ask for a quote £m2 over the phone I tell them that I don't and won't quote that way. They are welcome to phone a mug instead.
Bottom line is if you are happy with the workmanship you are getting then the price is a small factor. (If laid properly the tiles will not only outlast any carpet you would lay in a room that size, they should still be there when you are gone).

    Hear hear OS!:T

  • £25 p/m wall tiles + adhesive & grout.
£35 to £50 p/m floor tiles + adhesive & grout (as they are much harder to cut & may need sealing).

so yes i'd say you got a cheap job
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
