Looking for Cardiff, Llantrisant, Pontypridd, Vale of Glam, or nearby

Anyone know of testers who offer full free re-tests and how many days do they allow you to come back after 7 / 14.

Not interested in those who say "free if the vehicle remains in the garage", that is a VOSA requirement so virtually every tester offers that.

Also interested in low test fees, I know B.E.T.S. Barry offer £35 fee but other than that they adhere to the VOSA minimum requirements on re tests.

please don't move this to motoring, I'm looking for local knowledge.

we go to a company on the industrial estae off of hadfield road in cardiff (a&a tyre services, whittle rd, leckwith industrial estate). admittedly they can only mot cars which come into class 4 and 7, and they dont do much in the way of complex mechanic work, BUT we have had nothing but fantastic, friendly and competitively priced service from them. if you are confident that the car will pass the mot with no (major) problems, then i'd highly recommend them.

  • System Street MOT Station off Planet Street (near CRI) is great, they don't rip you off and are very efficient.
  • In the main pages, Martin mentions this somewhere, something about going to a local government garage or something? They're the best cos they wont rip you off as they have no vested interest in making a profit or something.

do a search above for M.O.T in the main site, theres a bit about it and its quite useful!!!
  • try Nigel at Llynfi lane garage in Bridgend. I have used his garage for years and he is a real genuine mechanic - not sure what price the MOT is but you can be sure he'll give you an honest opinion of your car and not charge the earth. His priority is his regular customers - excellent service - I recommend him to all my friends after being totally ripped off with a local ford garage 8 years ago. Also you can take your car to the local authority inspection yeards - there is one in Bridgend but there is a waiting list and then you'll have to get the work done elsehere if needed - good luck

I've been there a few times and they were very good. I thought they might be closing down or moving though? I'm not sure.

If you want a good friendly garage which won't rip you off, try St Fagans Garage in Cardiff. I don't know what their MOT policies are but you get great service at fair price.
  • BETTs in Miskin offers a cheap MOT (very fussy though).

Posted this under the main MOT article but thought I'd be worth it here as well:

Had my MOT test done yesterday at the workshop at Clare Road, Cardiff (Tel: 02920 343581).

Absolutely 1st class service from G Mackie and everyone else I spoke to there was also very pleasant. Highly recommended.

Cost was £40 and it was done in approx. 1 hour while I went for a stroll about town.
