A day's worth is fine. Hopefully, running the car can charge the battery up again.

Personally, I would prefer they re-design the micro-CHP so it keeps the central heating going in a power cut. Self-contained, neat and tidy. I can light the gas hob with a lighter, and lighting is simple with candles and battery lanterns.

please explain the dimmer controler/sensor in the meter cupboard
and how this knows when there is any energy going into the grid
    how will this work?

as for the inverter please tell me how it can be both off grid and on grid at the same time

if the dimmer system works why whould you need to go off grid

im very intrested to know more about it

The sensor - identical to one from the 'clip-on' energy meters - would clip over the wire to the meter, and measure if there was power going out of the house.
If there was, then it turns up the amount of power being fed into the immersion, until it balances. (if the thermostat doesn't shut it off).

This would be for a grid-connected system.

    thanks for the reply

i fully understand what you are saying but the sensor that is identical to the clip on meters how does it know which way and amount of current is flowing ?
never seen one i take it this will controle the dimmer by motor
and how is the motor powered from a clip on sensor?

    thanks
