Which Laptop?

Hi All,

We’re looking at buying a new laptop and we need some help!

We’ve been looking around and we like the look of the Dell Inspiron 9400 and the Acer Aspire 9423WSMi. Have you got any knowledge/views on which of these would be better. They’re both about the same price with a 17” widescreen, duel core 2 system, 1GB memory etc, although the Acer comes with Windows Vista and the Dell comes with Windows Media Edition.

The laptop will be used primarily as a desk top replacement as we may have other plans for our study in the future.

I’m keen to utilise the laptop for low level video editing/photoshop work as well as surfing the internet and downloading a bit of music. We would also be using spreadsheet and word processing packages.

Any views/advice/suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks very much.

Rob

    That's a tough decision....

The Dell Inspiron 9400 has an upgrade to Vista Premium for a £11 extra delivery charge - click on the 'Customise & Buy' button & follow the wizard. A review, but note that it is for a higher spec model.

The Acer Aspire 9423WSMi has a slightly better(?) graphics card. Plus built-in digital camera, flash memory card reader & bluetooth VoIP phone that the Dell hasn't. I couldn't find a review for it.

Hopefully the links & info may encourage others to post their views. All the best with the final choice & purchase :), G
