  • Out of those two I'd go for the samsung. There are roumers about HP slowing the computer side to its business so support may be limited down the line.

The Samsung is lighter, has better battery life and a bigger hard drive. But I've no idea about the build quality or reliability...

I agree with the other two replies, I bought my wife a Dell netbook and it's fine, but the 3 cell battery only lasts 2-3 hours. I now wish I'd spent a bit more and bought the Samsung as its 6 cell battery is so much better.

Swapping the 1GB RAM module for a 2GB is also super simple on the Samsung (1 screw to remove, take module out, put new module in... Done) unlike some others where you need to remove the keyboard to get to it - don't know about the HP though.

HP were meant to spin off their PC division but the new CEO has decided to keep it, however at the moment I'd think twice before getting a HP at least until they have a better idea of what they want to do with the company. Having said that I did grab a bargain 32GB TouchPad at the end of August and HP are giving the standard warranty and still pushing out updates despite officially abandoning WebOS so...
