Cancelling BT

Just a quick update. Engineer called this morning and established that the outside cable had rubbed on a tree and being very old needed replacement. So, good news, no charge and Broadband should finally speed up on the next couple of days.

BT Engineer said Broadband would improve over a few days, but it is rediculously slow. The download figure is no better than 0.20 Mbps whereas the upload speed is about 0.55 Mbps..

Needless to say I am quite disappointed but am wondering if in fact there is a likelihood that the speed may increase to an acceptable performance if I do wait a few days or so. What your opinion on this please.

From memory it can take up to three days for the IP Profile (which is what determines the maximum download rate) to recover.

In some cases, it may need to be forcibly reset by the ISP.

Success at last. BT Engineer called today and sorted my Broadband, now receiving almost 14 Mbps, which is scorching.

The annoying part is that the fault was apparently very easy and quick to rectify, whereas I have suffered this sub standard service, since joining BT in June.
