BOS Silver account, no cheque book?

I've read quite a lot of posts on the change over to Lloyds TSB systems, I have an Halifax URA, but wanted to change it to the BOS Silver.
Phoned up and was told, yes the Silver account has been opened, card on its way. I asked about a cheque book and the adviser said, 'Oh we're doing away with cheque books, due to the closure of the cheque guarantee system.
But on BOS's Silver info on the account it says comes with a cheque book:j So bit confused, I don't have any details yet, as the adviser said I'll request a cheque boo, but she couldn't? There again I'm not registered for their internet banking or haven't put money in the account yet.
With Halifax I have an overdraft, Clarity Card and a small loan so my credit must be ok. I no longer want to pay £15 for the Ultimate Reward and felt the BOS Silver account was better, not sure now - Help:o

I don't have one of these accounts. Having looked at their website there are very few mentions of a cheque book, however the pdf detailing the benefits of the account specifically mentions a cheque book.
You may find that they don't feel you sufficiently credit-worthy for a cheque-book or possibly they have withdrawn the chequebooks.
I can't be any more help, sorry, except to say you might want to ask a different branch or phone banking.0 -
Before on the old systems, if the account said it would come with a Cheque Book then you would get one regardless.
Since it's moved over to the Lloyds TSB systems Cheque Books are a Credit Product and this does depend on your Internal Score within the bank.
Only way is to really ask...David

Well, rang today and the adviser said he would order me a cheque book manually, he said they still issued cheque books. A Silver account is a full current account not a basic. Credit wise I have a Clarity card, loan, but as mentioned are Halifax's system still different in the credit scoring?
If I can't have a cheque book, which I feel is a proper full account, it will be closed. Now the cheque guarantee scheme as ended, you can't do much with a cheque, not that I can think of.
Will see:o0
