Debt relief order question - assets
I'm currently recieving income support and have a large amount of debt, at the moment my outgoings are more than my incomings not taking into account most of the debts as I am currently not paying all of them.
I think my best option would be to get a debt relief order but was wondering what would count as assets.
I have money in my account to cover income tax as I was self employed and am expecting the sure start grant of £500 shortly, would these count? Also would my laptop, tv, mobile etc count as assets? I can't really afford to go out socialising (and being too pregnant to do most of it anyway) so would go stir crazy without them! My laptop was replaced by my insurance from a 3 year old £250 one to a brand new £600 model, my tv is overly big but old, I didn't pay for it, it was given to me when mine broke.
Thanks in advance

Household items are generally disregarded unless luxury and high resale value. Your sure start grant I'm presuming will be used for baby items so won't be an 'asset' in the meaning that it is surplus to your reasonable domestic needs/expenses. Money that you have is only an asset is it is really surplus to requirements (ie not needed for bills/living expenses).Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
