X box power pack making a strange whirring noise

elmer

Hi

My sons xboxs power pack is making a very strange loud whirring noise. Can anyone tell me if this is serious? will it be expensive to fix? any other ideas will be gratefully received?

Thanks

Mine has a little internal fan which could the noise, it whirs somtimes when it gets a bit hot

Sounds like the cooling fan - does the 'brick' sit somewhere enclosed and/or dusty?

Unplug, allow to cool, then get out a vacuum cleaner and give it a good sook through the vents. Make sure it's got plenty of free airspace around it when in use.

Ok Ill try hoovering it out tomorrow, and see if it makes any difference to the noise.

Thanks for the suggestions
