New Boiler Advice - Vaillant or Potterton?

Worcester-Bosch are undoubtedly the best. They are however, more complex than they need to be. Parts are more expensive, although there is a large back-up organisation. Their warranties are very good.

WB are the worst for condensate freezing as they trickle all the time
This is what my plumber said to me. He said the WB trickles out condensate which freezes more readily whereas the Vaillant flushes it periodically like a toilet.
As my plumber was a Vaillant accredited installer I got the 5 year warranty rather than the 2 year one for free.
Our old boiler was noisy and you could tell when it was working - especially the fan. This sometimes helped as I would notice and turn down the heating. With the Vaillant I don't think we save a lot, despite the efficiency, because it's so bloomin' quiet that the heating is turned down less often! The man without a signature.0 -
Vaillant...or Viessmann, our preferred option for system and O/V boilers. More on choosing a boiler and more (including advice on condensate waste) here.

I have a Valliant Boiler, no problem with it so far. The condensate pipe runs quite a length along a north facing wall at a shallow angle in uninsulated in 40mm pipe. It hasn't frozen yet in temperatures down to -15deg C.0

Valliant are a very good make, have a look at Broag (remaha avanta), i have been fitting these for 4 years & have never had a call back, if it's the open vented models you can't even hear them running, i would recommend these every time (sorry post count isn't high enough to post a link just goggle them). 5 year standard warentee (2 years labour & 5 years parts).I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Thank you all for your replies. We have gone for the Vaillant should be installed within a week.0
