already 'appealed' do i now have to pay?

Was just wondering what my chances are realistically of avoiding paying a UKPC charge now that I’ve already ‘appealed’ (and failed) it.
The situation gets more complicated as, once they informed me that my appeal had been unsuccessful, my charge doubled from £40.00 to £80.00 even though I wrote the appeal letter within fourteen days on a dated letterhead (on the back of the parking ticket it said that if you appeal within 14 days the £40 would be suspended and this is all you would have to pay. I (somewhat stupidly) then e-mailed them agreeing to pay the £40.00 but refusing to pay the £80.00.
They’ve refused this and are demanding that I pay the £80.00. Does anyone have any advice on what my chances are now of realistically not paying anything if I just ignore them?

Ignore them, why do you owe them £40 or £80? All their appeals are unsuccessful and if you ignore them after a few silly letters they will go away and pester someone else.0

You've already fallen for their fake appeals process, don't fall for anything else. Ignore them and they will go away.0

thanks for that, I was just a little concerned as by offering to pay the £40.00 it could be taken as admitting liability in some way, and they have that offer in writing.
I'll take your advice and stick to my guns, hopefully i've not drawn too much of a red flag to myself

You will get more letters but ignore them and do not respond any further to them."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

ignore everything,nothing can/will be done to you.0

They will nearly always reject appeals on the grounds that appeals cost them money. Sadly you have identified yourself to them as a potential sucker, sorry payer, so they might interest the letter count.0

The decision to pay is yours what they have sent is a invoice for your guilt trip.
Now decide who needs £80 most, you or a con man.
make your decison, but if you decide you would like to keep your £80 get ready for lots of silly letters full of silly empty threats of non existant court action and the odd phone call from a spotty 18 years old in a sweatshop call centre and the odd letters faking real solicitors letters.
In short it is a impersonation scam that mimics real authority, the mugs behind it have none.
IGNORE THEM, keep your money is my advice, file the silly letters where you file other scam letters.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thanks for your help, yes now I've read the articles and replies etc I'm pretty annoyed with myself for appealing in the first place and getting really worked up over their completely nonchalant and unprofessional responses. I'll be keeping the £80
