Phone line for new build flat

My mother's about to move into a new build flat that will need a new phone connection. I know when I moved into my flat a few years ago it was £125 for BT just to get the phone connected but I was wondering if this was still the case or whether there are ways round this?

My mother would be interested in getting broadband and satellite tv too so a package of some kind would be fine too.

Most operators offer a discount on the fee if you agree to a longer contract or a minimum number of calls etc. Check with SamKnows to see who can offer you services in the area but double check that the location looks sensible as when I recently moved into a new build place which had a new postcode many sites didn't work or put the location in totally the wrong place etc.

Newbuilds don't often have the line actually connected, so there's a bit of a delay (versus just "switching it on")

Different operators charge different amounts, Virgin National used to be £39, Plusnet £49, Zen £85, BT £129 and so on.

And as above you may get it cheaper if you agree to a long lock-in.
