P & O Mini Cruise

Has anyone done one of these? We are thinking of booking Hull to Bruges, tagging along with some freinds who have already booked.
The cost of the cruise is great, coming up at £123 for 2 adukts 2 children, 2 nights on board. 1 day in Bruges.
Our friends have also paid in advance for 2 meals, and i wondered if this was worth doing?
Does this guarantee anything, or is it simply cheaper than paying when on board? Thing is, dinner is £50 for 2 adukts and 2 kids, which works out at £12,50 each, but my 9 yr old won't eat much!
can anyone tell me how it works?
Is it worth doing?
We don't want to be on board and unable to eat because we haven't booked in advance!
Appreciate any input!

Well worth it - we have done it a few times.
The dinners in advance are a bit cheaper than buying them on board but you can decide to pay on the night. The food is great, buffet with loads of choice for starters, mains and puds.
You can get breakfasts as well but a bit early in the morning for us!
It can be quite tiring, but is a real adventure. The bus to Bruges takes about half an hour (from memory) and you will have all day there before being picked up again to go back to the boat.0 -
ive done the cruise
yes the food is worth buying very good quality and eat as much as you want
its dearer if you pay on board
of course you can take snacks and forego the meals to save money
remember you have to also buy tickets for the bus from the ship to bruge too
also remember you can only brink 1kg of rolling bacca back per person now0 -
Its not an all day in Brugges, you will be lucky if you have 5 hours to spend there.
OP, the ferry doesnt sail till evening, I'll pm you with some tips.
As for the ferry, youre getting quite a good deal on the price and please note, Brugges is very, very expensive to eat and drink
2 years ago my OH and I sat outside a nice pub, asked for 2 fresh orange juices and when I got the bill it was 12 euros. I nearly fell off
my chair to be honest. Beautiful place though.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Not true, if you book the mini cruise the transport to/from Bruges is included.
And as far as I'm concerned, before 10am to 5pm is all day - feet are usually killing us well before then!0 -

This is quite wrong, you can bring in as much as you want as long as you can prove its for your own consumption.
Cigarettes - same again.
We have just been to Amsterdam and checked this before we bought any.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

seems like i need to clarify my post then
i went this time last year and i can assure you i had to pay for the transport from the ship to bruge and back
a friend went 2 weeks ago and he assures me there was clear warning you had better not return with more than 1kg per person rolling bacca, baring in mind this is why he went so as to have enough to last him till next year and he decided seeing as customs were being keen to abide by the ruling
there
ive said it0 -
Well I would check on the internet then, we were told that there is no limit, there are suggestions only,
We bought 6 packs (of 10) 3kg each, of backy and 20 sleeves of cigarettes and we made it known that we had them,
No problem madam, are they for your consumption, yes, thats fine then.
I'll check on the internet too, just to be sure.
Ive found this for 2011

They are supposed to have changed the guidelines (not the (un)limits...) http://www.theleader.info/article/30803/spain/national/new-uk-customs-guidelines/0

Thanks, so it seem we are both right in a way, in my case and investigation would show that we go every six months for our own consuption, we buy enough to last us the six months, always buy on my cc so that it is freely available for scrutiny. It would be different if we were going every month, and buying 6 months supply, then that would be silly and then I would be worrying, as it is, I'll keep on doin it.
Thanks for the linkmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

With Reference to the 1 Kilo Limit ...........:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Absolute rubbish !!
Its not a "limit" its an excuse for the UKBA to suggest that you may be a[STRIKE] lowlife scum[/STRIKE] decent UK citizen taking advantage of the better rates in the EU than our overtaxed fags !
And all the lobbying by the anti-smoke Nazis to try and stop the LEGAL trade from happening , keep shopping ! ignore the 1 kg rubbishA Bast**d I May Be ! I Was Born One !
Whats Your Excuse ?0
