Outdoor key boxes

Not sure which is the best board to put this on - but does anyone have a recommendation for an outdoor key safe? My parents struggle to get to the door when carers come and I think it's time to make a key available for them. It's not going to be much fun for them standing on the doorstep in the winter.

I've found an old thread - http://forum.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3049220 - but if anyone has any other advice, it would be welcome.

I got a keysafe fitted for my dad when he had carers coming in. It's a great thing, and (I live in his house now) I have the security of being able to get in a house that's like Fort Knox if I forget my key!! I can't remember what make it is, but Age Concern fitted it for him, they probably do a standard one.
  • Hi
We use a Master Lock 5-Key Combination Key Safe to leave a key for the kids etc. Got it from Screwfix (sorry not allowed to link) but it was a lot cheaper than B&Q
  • Social Services might fit one for you, especially if they provide the carers.

In our area you can get them cheap through "Help the Aged." Not sure what the make is though, but you could try them for advice. They also have a list of approved handymen who won't rip your parents off if they want someone to come and fit it properly for them.

Edit - now renamed age uk

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Thanks, everyone. Mum and Dad use their AA to pay for their carers so I don't know if SS will fit one. I'll follow up the other advice.
  • Make sure the number is a good one when its installed, I was aghast today to send someone out to a clients whose safe number was1111 I mean, really, whoever did that should be shot!
