Public Transport to Heathrow

Hi,

Hope this is the right thread to post this on...

I am travelling, well attempting at the moment but I have to get to heathrow terminal 3 on sunday.

Lucky me I pick a weekend when there is no service from acton town to heathrow there is a bus replacement service.

I am travelling from east london /essex, now I just wondered if anyone had travelled this route whilst on bus replacement? If it was absolutely manic? I don't want a mad dash or is it easy to get a cab at acton town to heathrow?

The district line is ok that weekend its just the piccadilly line.

I have rang a taxi one way is £75.00.

Any views would be much appreciated.:)

Sorry never used this replacement bus, but how about Heathrow Connect from Paddington.

Or South West Trains from Waterloo to Feltham, then 285 bus to terminal.

The Heathrow website has these ideas and others.

Have done it on the bus replacement in reverse (i.e. Heathrow into central London). Was a bit of a pain with luggage and was very busy but they had put lots of buses on. If you do go that route then make sure you leave plenty of extra time.

    Personally I'd do Heathrow Connect.
  • It is difficult for me to get to paddington otherwise I would use the connect.

Thanks I will leave extra time, have to be 3 hours before for flight, or so advised. Will give myself at least 2.5 hours travel time aswell.

I will def need a drink by the time I get to heathrow!

You don't have to go Paddington. Take the District line to Ealing Broadway and, err, connect with Connect there. It's only a couple more stops from Acton and a lot less hassle then the replacement bus.
Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

The problem is that part of the District Line is also closed this weekned, the section from Embankment to Aldgate East. So coming in from Essex/East London would not be a straight trip on the District Line! It may help if we had an exact location of where you are travelling from?

If you can get into Liverpool Street on the Main Line or access the Central Line from anywhere else in Essex, then I would take that to Ealing Broadway and then get the Heathrow Connect as suggested.

As I say, difficult to be of more help without knowing where you are starting from precisely or what public transport you can access.

Ring around taxi firms. Local private hire, not balck cabs/big firms. I've seen taxi runs to heathrow from central london for £25, so I would Have thought £35 was possible from east london. They won't be busy on a Sunday morning....
