I have just bought an a/c adaptor for my hp laptop, it is far larger than the proper hp one ( I have gone through 2 in 12 months, both times the cable twisted and broke), the copy is made in china and seems fine, in fact it seems better quality than the hp one, it even has a power light on it. it was only £20 as opposed to about £70 for an hp one. should i be concerned about anything?

Why don't you get the broken cables repaired? You should treat them with more respect if you are getting though one every six months! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

tbh, the hp ones seem very poor quality, when charging, the laptop sits on a a table, hardly abused! all I asked is whether a cheap a/c adaptor will do the job , preferably without wrecking the laptop or battery. the bit of broken cable is the very small piece where it comes out of the laptop socket, it,s about 2" long and seems very fragile, it twists VERY easily, that is how the copper wires inside have become damaged, I didn't know that it could even be repaired."There is a light that never goes out"0
